Beer is a fermented beverage that is made from malted grains, with hops added for flavoring. the quality and amounts of the grain and hops are the biggest factor affecting beer taste. water makes up approximately 90% of the body of beer, but is not the determining ingredient in the taste of the beer. most beers use charcoal filtered, Ph balanced water from local municipal water systems. Advertising the origin of the water is usually a marketing ploy.

The alcohol content of beer is normally from 3.2% to 4.5%. malt liquor, and ales contain a higher percentage, generally from 3.2% to 8%. The highest alcohol content as of date is Snake Venom which is 67.5 ABV.Beer regulations vary from state to state, and can affect the taste of certain beers. Some companies must change their recipes to meet certain states regulations. 

Light beers are very popular due to the public perception that all light beers contain one third fewer less calories than the beer for which it is named. The government regulations require the light beer to be at least one calorie less then the beer for which it is named, and it must be lower in alcohol content. To maximize flavor, some light beers contain close to the original beer’s calorie content.
